LAUREN RODEN'S CAMP STORY:
In the summer of 2009, a group of us made the trek from the pool camp down to the creek behind the lodge. There was a mud pit and we were gonna find it. We found ourselves deep in creekwater and clay mud, belly laughing and smearing mud on each other's faces. We were filthy. It was a moment in which time stood still and we were without a care in the world. It was fleeting but it was perfect. Less than a year later, one of those friends died in a tragic accident leaving a permanent hole in our lives.
I'm grateful that Sumatanga gave me those friendships and that moment-- I can still hear the splashing and Matt's laughter in my mind.
